First, I suggest you put in your description your thought process going into creating and releasing this song. It will help me give a rating and review based on how clearly your intent came across rather than my personal preference.

For example, one element I'm wondering about is the title. Out of curiosity, why did you name it that?

That said, I like this piece. I'd like to see this grow into a full-fledged song, even it remains instrumental.

Lolcrunch responds:

The title is not what i'd consider "creative." Sure, it's got big words, and, at that, kinda far fetched ones, I don't think they fit the... aura... of the song.
"Then why did you choose them?"
Because I had no clue what to name it, so I just named it something that wasn't "Short Loop" or something like that.

As for making this a full piece... maybe. I have some ideas for how some melodies could go, but I'm not sure if I wanna use them with this song.

UPDATE:

Thank you for putting in the description. It gives me a clearer idea of what you are going for.

It's difficult to tell what section means what, IMO.

Original 4 1/2 star review:

I don't know who "The Auditor" is, but to me the piece paints an interesting picture of a retro-90's gang that hides out in the back of a store, which is a front so no one gets suspicious.

It's hard to tell what you are going for, so I think you should add to your description some clearer details about what you want the villain's theme to be.

What I'm currently getting from this piece is a "tough guy" vibe in a setting much like WATCH_DOGS 2. It projects careful confidence.

Good job overall.

Sekter responds:

I start with calm vibes because he starts off as a chill dude and then the other segment is when he starts to become serious (combat mode) so I made 3 segments and not one just to create those unique vibes.

There's a hopeful quality to this piece. Personally, I thought the title matched the music quite well. That said, it's difficult to know what you are going for without commentary from you in your song's description. If you added what your thought process and intent was to the description, it will affect the kind of feedback I can give and the accuracy of my rating. That, and I won't have to rely strictly on my own taste.

My personal opinion is I do like the piece. It's relaxing and reminds me of looking at the stars at night on a hill, like a carefree child.

Thx for the feedback. It's the first time someone asks me to write how I made the track in the description. Nice to know someone is interested.

I might do something bigger like an entire video instead of an explanation in the description and maybe put the link to the video in the description of this song.

Thx again the review!

I'm basing my review and rating on the sonic elements of this piece rather than the lyrics.

I suggest adding to your description what you were trying to accomplish, whether you were trying to fit the music to your lyrics or not. That way I can judge depending on how well I thought your intent came across instead of relying on my own taste.

I do like the song, though.

I have already made the description, you can read it right now along with the lyrics and the video clip we made of this song

Wow. You tried to make rhythmic sounds that evoke the sense of a train, and as far as I'm concerned, your method payed off.

The music has a sense of adventure. In my mind I keep switching from an old-style tunnel with a steam locomotive to riding a modern subway, and back again. Invoking multiple images is difficult but you did it.

The intention is loud and clear. No notes. :)

ClockbeatAdelony87 responds:

That was exactly my intention! Thanks for the review!

My opinion: I think this is an interesting loop.

It makes me think of a hypothetical NES game featuring Hermes the bureaucrat from Futurama. There's a certain whimsical, monotonous quality to it.

I think I could provide better feedback if you added your thought process and any intent you had when creating this song into its description. That way I can judge how clearly I thought your intent came across as opposed to judging purely by my own taste. In turn, this could also affect my rating.

This thene is actually the main menu theme of a minigame in my upcoming project, the first version can be listened to on the gamejolt page. It's actually almost a month old now, just completed the entire think earlier today. thanks for the feedback though as all i really ever wanted constructive critisism

IMO this piece has a feeling of urgency and a clear image of a clean futuristic metropolis. I think it fits the story in the description quite well. It's also really well mixed.

I have no notes. Good job. :)

Thank you so much :) !

While the intent isn't entirely clear from your description, I'll give you bonus points for giving me goosebumps (largely due to the combination of the piece, its accompanying image and the caption). Somehow you managed to make a peaceful ambient sound become uncomfortable, like a horror movie. It keeps me on my toes.

I stand by what I say in many reviews I write, that I think it would be helpful for you to give a more direct statement of your intent and thought process going into this piece. This way I can give better feedback, a more accurate rating, and judge less by my own taste and more on how clearly I thought your intent came across in this piece.

That said, I like this piece a lot. :)

wow, thank you so much bro :D

Given the dark and personal subject matter of this piece (Speaking from the sound and from the description; I don't speak the language of the lyrics) I find it very difficult to even try to review this piece. Out of respect, I am not going to show my rating without your permission; It doesn't feel right to me to publicly assign a number to something like this.

What I will say is this: IMO the increasingly unsettling progression of the song does a great job at conveying the idea of going nuts. Complemented by the description, it makes a lot of sense.

If you would like a more detailed review and/or rating, feel free to PM me.

Edit: Very well. I have revealed my rating.

igelpony responds:

Hey,

thanks for the review on the instrumental part.
I added the lyrics (incl. the translation) in the description.

And you can publish the rating you are giving. Thanks for the consideration, but I am not too uptight (well, not anymore) about being critized for my music.

The description, the title, the song and the atmosphere it creates; every element written for this piece carries the image so well, it's like I'm transported into the world this piece creates. It's more than just an image I see; under proper conditions, I can see a short film in my head playing along with each moment in this composition as they are introduced, like a soundtrack to a book. In many ways, this is one of the most accurate, detailed, and clear representations of imagery trying to be conveyed I have ever heard, or at least that I've heard in a while.

The only knock I have against this piece is the compression, especially in the second half of the piece (around 3:47 onward), is a little high, especially during the times when there's cinematic buildup at the same time as there are strings. The volume is slightly unstable during those parts and it temporarily takes me out of the experience.

Still, I think this is phenomenal and I'd love to hear more. :D
